Orange's latest service allows customers to receive real-time news updates from
leading content sites, news posts from favored blogs and additional content personally
defined by the user. In addition, the service enables the user to define specific dates
when to receive different notices and to easily modify them via the cellular portal.
Every RSS (Really Simple Syndication) update published in the defined site will be
forwarded to the user by SMS, including the link to the content itself.
The tendency to send updated RSS protocols via the internet is widespread and acts as
a central distribution tool in Web 2.0 sites, where the content is frequently updated.
Brower's are able to receive real-time information via RSS updates either via the
system or via the user without accessing the site itself. The new service allows
browser's to access oboxlive via their cellular and enjoy the services benefits.
Iris Beck, Orange's VP Marketing and Content, says that "the new service that we are
launching today is part of the trend to pass on the control to the user. The user can
choose the content he prefers to receive, when to receive it and which platform. The
Web 2.0 distribution service, acting under easy and efficient access principles to
information, enables us to broaden our various options to access information also via
the cellular platform, utilizing the personal capabilities and continuous access in the
new world of media and mobile".
The new service enables Orange customers to receive notice on real-time content, to
all mobiles, at a charge of 4.90 NIS per month.
